Members of the committee attended a consultation on plans for Regents House (former RBS building) next to Angel station; public consultations were also held for residents to see outline plans to change it to a 600-room Motel 1 hotel. The street-side colonnade would be enclosed, overall building height would remain broadly unchanged, a full renovation would retain the two courtyards and the bricks, replace the windows and create upper level terraces, and the right of way through the site would also be retained – a planning application is due to be submitted in June.
The committee continues to be concerned about the Council’s proposed plans at Peregrine House, City Road to build on the green space and has met with residents to discuss their views.
In addition, the committee is monitoring plans at sites including the Holborn Infirmary/Archway Campus which is still waiting for the Mayor to announce a date for the hearing having called it in; Finsbury Leisure Centre; and 176 York Way where a change of use has been proposed from life sciences to offices with no significant change to the building envelope.
